With transhumanism at our doorstep, there needs to be a way to draw out the ambiguities of what the religious call the soul or consciousness. One might conclude that AI could not be considered God’s children or possess a soul. However, AI is an extension of our minds at the moment - it contains a consciousness that it will eventually mimic. We are now making cyborgs in our image after our likeness.
